In Year 5, children have the opportunity to learn how to stay safe on the roads. We have been really excited to have welcomed Bikeability into school this week, and our children have had great fun learning how to stay safe on the roads. Thank you to our brilliant instructors from BikeRight who have helped us all so much!

After making sure our bikes are safe, and checking that we have the right equipment to cycle responsibly, we have spent the first part of the day learning how to manoeuvre safely, control our bike with one hand and understand when, and how to use signals on the road.

During the afternoon, we took to some familiar roads around school, ensuring we know how to make left and right turns correctly, and navigating changes from minor to major roads. We have demonstrated that we can make sensible decisions and we have used our knowledge of the Highway Code.

What a brilliant day we have all had. We can’t wait to show you our new skills and we hope that you’ll be able to see us cycling safely soon.

To all our children who have successfully completed their Bikeability Level 1 and Level 2 assessment this week – congratulations! We hope that you have some amazing experiences using your new skills. To our children, who have patiently waited their turn – good luck for next week, we know you will all be fabulous!
