Year 4 had a fantastic day yesterday exploring Sankey Valley Park. Our visit brought our lessons to life and has allowed us to apply what we’ve learned in the classroom to real life experiences.

The trip aligned perfectly with the objectives of the science national curriculum. The curriculum emphasises the understanding of living things and their habitats. It encourages students to explore and investigate the natural world, including local environments, and record their findings.

Sankey Valley, encompasses green landscapes, meandering waterways, and a diverse range of flora and fauna. It was the ideal setting for the Year 4 students to explore different habitats and observe the various species residing in them.

Equipped with checklists, our young scientists diligently recorded their observations. We will use these findings back in the classroom, to support our learning further.

We all had a fabulous time and can’t wait for our next adventure.
