Our Forest School, led by specially trained Mrs Swanton, offers children a unique opportunity to learn, explore and grow in a natural outdoor environment. Whether attending as part of their class curriculum or joining smaller pastoral groups, pupils benefit from regular time in our woodland space where curiosity, resilience and independence are nurtured through hands‑on experience.

At Forest School, children take part in activities such as den building, tool work, natural craft, wildlife exploration and team challenges. These sessions encourage pupils to take supported risks, collaborate with others and discover their own strengths. The natural setting stimulates imagination and problem‑solving in ways that are difficult to recreate indoors, giving children the freedom to follow their interests and develop confidence through meaningful, practical learning.

The wellbeing benefits of Forest School are at the heart of why we value it so highly. Spending time outdoors has been shown to reduce stress, lift mood and support emotional regulation. In our woodland sessions, children have the space to breathe, reflect and enjoy calm, mindful moments among the trees. For those attending in pastoral groups, Forest School can be especially powerful—helping pupils to build self-esteem, strengthen relationships and feel grounded in a safe, supportive environment.

Our Forest School is a place where children flourish—not only academically, but socially and emotionally. It is a treasured part of our school experience and one that helps every child develop a deeper connection with nature, with others and with themselves.
